Our young pharmacist does his best to bury his deep inside, while our librarian starts to realize that holding them back is what has been making her miserable all along. But holding back or moving forward, everyone is consumed with the ache of distance as they try to sort everything out. Except for maybe our pharmacistâs rival Ki-seok. That guy has plenty of angst to contend with as well in this hour, but his is more about avoidance than any realizations. EPISODE 9 Sitting in the car, Ji-ho promises Jung-in that he wonât let her see his feelings, just as long as he can still see her. Jung-in scoffs that the idea of him watching her secretly is ridiculous, but as she keeps talking, it sounds like her real issue is that she wants to know that Ji-ho is admiring her. Not just that, but Jung-in asks if she should get Ji-hoâs permission so that she can watch him in secret as well, basically admitting that sheâs drawn to him just as much as he is to her. She calls him selfish, and Ji-ho asks if he should allow himself to be truly selfish. But Jung-in squashes the rising emotions with a firm âno.â Ji-ho rolls out of the car and leans against his car, taking a breath of the night air to calm down. Meanwhile, Ki-seok is still out with the guys and gives Jung-in a call. Sheâs his number one on speed dial, but she doesnât pick up his call. Ji-ho drives Jung-in home, and as they arrive, Ji-ho says that they should end things there. Jung-in presses him on it, how sheâs not going to buy his lie that this is all his fault for falling for her fleeting feelings too fast. At their home, Jung-inâs parents argue as they get into bed. Dad insists that putting pressure on Jung-in is the right thing to do, while Mom stands firm in her defence of her daughter and her right to make her own decisions. The next day, Jung-in catches her Mom on the way out of her calligraphy class. While Mom defended her the night before, she still plays cold towards her daughter until Jung-in apologizes for hiding Jae-inâs return. As they sit together in an empty auditorium in the school building, Mom shares that Seo-in also got upset during a recent visit. Jung-in quickly asks what Seo-in had to say, but diverts her eyes when Mom asks if she knows something. Jung-in asks her mother what kind of guy she should marry. Mom asks about Ki-seok, and says that itâs not easy to sever such a bond with someone youâve known for so long. Even so, Momâs words are that you canât control what the heart wants. As the week continues, Jung-in and her colleagues continue to prep for the upcoming book event and are working on a theme. Jung-in suddenly blurts, âUnexpectedly You,â and presents it as a way to encourage new participants who may have shied away from the event previously. Jung-in starts to back down on the concept, but Young-joo and Ha-rin love the idea. While Jung-in is having creative breakthroughs at work, others are having less success. Ji-ho seems more and more consumed by his frustration while he works, and Seo-in turns down the offer for a new show. Her boss canât understand why she wouldnât go for it, and Seo-in manages to stay firmly silent as he badgers her with questions. Meanwhile, Shi-hoon has found his new, larger dental office. Heâs excited that all the equipment in the office will come with it, and brushes aside the real estate agentâs efforts to warn him that because this is a new building, the rent will be very costly. Shi-hoon just wants to know when he can sign the lease. After work, Ki-seok and Jung-in go out for dinner together, and Jung-in asks if Ki-seok has seen Shi-hoon recently. When Ki-seok mentions the loan, Jung-in tells him to stay away from Shi-hoon and find an excuse to deny the loan. She wonât elaborate on why though, so of course Ki-seok mentions that Shi-hoon said that he would support their marriage. It is definitely the wrong thing to say, and Jung-in gives him a hard stare. Ki-seok presses, and Jung-in asks what his parents think about them getting married. Ki-seok asks if sheâll accept his proposal if he gets that all straightened out, and Jung-in asks if he just doesnât want to lose this argument. Ki-seok retorts that itâs not like Jung-in lets him win all the time anyway. Jung-in says that she dreads spending time with Ki-seok lately, because it always turns into a fight, and she blames herself for it. Jung-in waits outside as Ki-seok pays the bill, and Ki-seok walks past her without a glance as he tells her to get in the car. Now Jung-in is angry, and she lets all of the pent-up anger out. She yells at Ki-seok about how she knows his parents donât approve of her, and how frustrated she is that while Ki-seok knows this, he just ignores how that might make her feel. Jung-in says sheâs never pestered him to get married, and she hoped only that he would understand her and her feelings. Ki-seok tries to comfort Jung-in, but sheâs too riled up and walks home by herself. And now itâs time for a misery montage! The night hasnât ended well for anyone really, and we see Jung-in curled on her couch, Ki-seok in his car still outside the restaurant, and Ji-ho in his apartment wrestling with his thoughts. At the pharmacy the next morning, Ji-ho is thrown by a woman asking for hangover medicine. All he can think about is his first encounter with Jung-in, and his fellow pharmacist has to take over while he heads to the back room the gather himself. His older coworker Pharmacist Wang arrives with a bag of clothes for Eun-woo. She asks about the girl Ji-ho is obviously pining over, and he tells her that he ended it, because âhe was too good for her.â Pharmacist Wang gives him a playful slap to the shoulder and sends him back out front. At the school, Jung-inâs dad is busy slashing the budget for books and other âunnecessaryâ things when Chairman Kwon turns up. The chairman inquires after Jung-inâs library job, and then asks what Jung-in is good at. Dad vaguely boasts that Jung-in is good at a lot of things, but the chairman seems pretty unconvinced. They take this conversation to lunch, but first Chairman Kwon fields a call from his son, telling Ki-seok to hurry up and get married. Once the chairman ends the call, Dad continues to praise Jung-in and says that sheâs very loyal and would never betray anyone. The chairman warns Dad not to trust her just because sheâs his daughter. Meanwhile, Jung-in and Young-joo with coffee in the library stacks, and Jung-in quietly announces, âIâm going to break up with Ki-seok.â Young-joo is stunned that Jung-inâs feelings for the pharmacist are that strong. Young-joo says that Jung-in wonât be able to break up with Ki-seok, because Ki-seok wonât let her. She says that maybe if there wasnât another guy, it would just fade away. But with a third-party, it will become about winning and pride. Jung-in says that while she does like Ji-ho, sheâs not sure if she has a chance with him either. Young-joo asks her to explain, and Jung-in promises to do so later, with a sigh. EPISODE 10 Ji-hoâs parents are busy at their business, though Mom may be more preoccupied with setting Ji-ho up with their single mom neighbor than she is with laundry. The bus arrives with Eun-woo, who asks about when his dad will be around so they can go to the library again. Mom presses about whatâs at the library, and Eun-woo admits that thereâs a teacher there who knows his dad. Ji-ho is out for chicken and beer with Hyun-soo, the conversation about dating and work. Hyun-soo brings up how attractive Ki-seokâs girlfriend is again, and then says that he heard theyâre getting married, but he doesnât think Ki-seok actually wants to. Ji-hoâs hackles raise as he gets defensive. âWhy are they still together then? And what does that make her?â Hyun-soo doesnât get why Ji-ho is so interested, and segues on to mention that he canât get ahold of their friend Young-jae. Ji-ho tells Hyun-soo to leave the guy alone while he studies. Cut to Young-jae, who is indeed busy studying eating dinner with Jae-in. He asks Jae-in what she plans to do when she eventually has to find a job, and Jae-in lists her many capabilities, including French, English, and piano. On the tv overhead, Seo-inâs news program comes on, and Jae-in asks Young-jae what he thinks of the newscaster. Sheâs immediately sulky when Young-jae says that Seo-in is his ideal type, sophisticated and elegant. Jae-in huffs over to get the bill. Outside, Young-jae finally checks his phone and sees all the messages from Hyun-soo. Jae-in wants to join him and Ji-ho for drinks, but Young-jae is worried theyâll speculate that theyâre more than just friends. Jae-in swears that sheâll profess that sheâs there to see Ji-ho, but Young-jae says heâs pretty sure that the guy has fallen hard for someone else already. So Jae-in goes home instead, and promptly reports this news of a mysterious love interest to Jung-in, who is picking at her late dinner. Jung-in slips up and asks Jae-in why sheâs so interested in âJi-ho shi,â and Jae-in notes the unexpected familiarity. Jung-in diverts the conversation by warning Jae-in to behave, and Jae-in growls over her shoulder that she misses her fearless sister. Ki-seok meets with Shi-hoon to relay the news that his loan has been denied. Shi-hoon is all smiles, telling Ki-seok that itâs no big deal, he can just afford to do it in cash. Ha. But then Shi-hoon starts back with his intentions to support Ki-seok and Jung-inâs marriage, and itâs clear that the latest confrontation with Jung-in is on his mind as Ki-seok pulls the paperwork back and offers to take another look at it. After Ki-seok walks Shi-hoon to his car, he receives a text from Jung-in. âWe need to talk,â it reads, and Ki-seok curses to himself as he walks back inside. Yeah, need-to-talk texts are never good. Seo-in arrives at Shi-hoonâs dental office at closing time. The receptionists are on their way out, and Seo-in asks one of the girls to pick up some stomach medicine for her. Once theyâre gone, Seo-in heads back to Shi-hoonâs office and throws his mail on the desk in front of him. She tells him to hurry up and take care of his loan, and demands his legal seal so that she can sell the apartment. Shi-hoon rises to strike Seo-in, and she runs for the doors. He pursues her and grabs her, but theyâre interrupted by the receptionist returning with Seo-inâs medicine, thank goodness. The workday is ending for Jung-in as well. She checks her texts and sees that Ki-seok is avoiding the conversation that she wants to have. Young-joo wishes her friend luck. But Jung-in is tired of waiting, and so she calls Ji-ho on her way out. But Ji-ho is busy with laundry at home and doesnât pick up. Jung-in heads to his building, seeing the lights on in his apartment. She calls again, but no answer. And so she climbs the stairs of the building, the overhead fluorescents lighting the way as she climbs to Ji-hoâs front door. Ji-ho comes out to talk to her in the hallway. He asks if something happened, and she asks him if sheâs the only one having a hard time with this. She asks if sheâs annoying, and Ji-ho gruffly says, âYes, you are.â He goes on, saying that they should just be strangers to one another, and Jung-in reaches out and silences him, her hand pressed against his mouth. She starts to cry as she pulls her hand away, and Ji-ho shifts uncomfortably before suggesting that they go get something to eat. They head to a nearby restaurant and are seated even though itâs closing time. Ji-ho recommends whatâs good, but Jung-in notes that heâs not eating. Ji-ho admits that heâs actually already had dinner. Jung-in continues to badger him, asking if sheâs a loser and a burden to him, and Ji-ho agrees, though itâs clear thereâs no heart in it, only restraint. Jung-in asks if the coffee shop they went to previously is still open, and Ji-ho asks, âArenât you going home?â Jung-in gives him a sideways look as she asks if she can stay at his place if the answer is no. They sit across from one another at the coffee shop now. Jung-in persists with her line of questions and Ji-ho holds his front, asking why Jung-in canât understand that this entire evening is torture for him. Jung-in asks why she should care. But it seems more flirty than anything else, and when Ji-ho calls her mean, she says that heâll be seeing it a lot more now that her true troublemaker self has resurfaced. Ji-ho asks her to please help him be strong and not selfish, and when Jung-in asks why, he answers that sheâs too good for him, which gives her pause. In the end, Ji-ho drives Jung-in home. As she walks away, Ji-ho canât help but watch her. Then he folds over on his car, bracing himself against his emotions. Just at that moment though, Jae-in and Young-jae arrive and ask what Ji-ho is doing in the neighborhood. Jung-in is so distracted inside, she misses the elevator and has to call for it again. While she waits, Jae-in catches up and mentions that she saw Ji-ho outside and wanted to invite Young-jae in, but she knew her sister wouldnât like it. Jung-in says that sheâs not so uptight, and so Jae-in skips off to invite both men up for a drink. This sends Jung-in racing to her apartment, desperate to clean and hide away things before everyone gets upstairs. She picks up the framed picture of her and Ki-seok, and then flips it over, ha. Jae-in leads the guys upstairs, but isnât impressed with Jung-inâs offer of tea. It seems that Jung-in polished off all the booze in the house, so Jae-in grabs Young-jae and they head out to get more alcohol, leaving Ji-ho and Jung-in alone. The two canât help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, but their smiles fade slowly as Jung-inâs phone begins to buzz on the table. Itâs clear that it must be Ki-seok, and Jung-in answers it, her eyes not straying from Ji-ho. Ki-seok asks what she wanted to talk about. âLetâs break up,â she says, and Ji-ho looks at her, his eyes wide. Ă COMMENTS The buzz of a vibrating phone ringing phone has never been so ominous. I was filled simultaneously with so much hope and dread, and I was so pleased to see that rather than letting it kill the revived mood, Jung-in moved forward and stuck to her plan. Weâve been hearing so much about the fearless Jung-in who doesnât back down from what she wants. And I think weâve seen the first real move towards that true self right here. Or perhaps her fight with Ki-seok outside the restaurant was the first hint that a big change was brewing for Jung-in. Her go-to so far has been the meaningful stare, so I was startled to see her yelling so emotionally in the street. I think Ki-seok was too, because he moved immediately to comfort rather than to fight back. But was Jung-inâs explosion at Ki-seok rooted in real feelings, or is this an excuse, a front to cover up the other things? Iâve kind of believed that Jung-in didnât really care about what Ki-seokâs parents thought of her, but perhaps that is part of the mask sheâs been wearing all this time, and weâre seeing feelings that have been festering for years. Itâs interesting because honestly, Iâm not sure that I see Chairman Kwon as opposed to Jung-in as a daughter-in-law. He doesnât necessarily see it as advantageous and would probably be a terribly condescending in-law, but really I just get the impression that the guy just wants his son married. It makes you wonder what Jung-in found appealing in a boring life for so long. Her sister calls her fearless, her mother tells stories of hunger strikes. Itâs seeming more and more like Jung-inâs âI donât like adventureâ line is a lie. So how did she get here? Did it happen naturally, some sort of life entrophy that got her here? Did something happen when she and Ki-seok met, that made her want to settle into dullness? I canât help but think about Ki-seokâs dadâs comment, about how Ki-seok quit music when he met Jung-in. It feels like this relationship has sucked the creativity right out of the pair, possibly from the very start. Because Jung-in isnât just experiencing changes in her romantic feelings. Sheâs also experiencing a creative revival at work, and her friends are noticing the positive changes in her as well. Itâs seeming more and more like these two, individually, are not bland or boring at all. But their union has somehow fostered this dull, sepia existence for them. And oh Ki-seok, actively avoiding what he knows is coming. I think he was hoping that Jung-in would just be too tired to break up with him if he called late enough in the evening. I appreciate though that while Ki-seok wonât admit himself that he doesnât want to get married, at least his friends recognize it. They only see the surface of things, but Ki-seok canât even get himself to that point quite yet. On to other disintegrating relationships, Iâm so proud of Seo-in in this episode. Seo-in wore battle armor to her confrontation with Shi-hoon, and I loved it. Sheâs ususally dressed in soft whites and pastels for work, so I screamed in joy when I saw her in that dark power suit at the dental office. And while it didnât stop Shi-hoonâs bad behavior, because honestly nothing short of prison is going to stop this jerk, it still gave Seo-in the courage to face him anyway. Iâm also glad that Seo-in stood up for herself and didnât take the new job assignment. Society may see this as weakness, as letting things get in her way. But I see it as her standing up to the worldâs expectations, and recognizing that success and happiness arenât just measured in workplace ascension. Itâs not that Seo-in doesnât want this show. Itâs that she knows that she has too much on her plate already, and she knows that she needs to put her safety first. And then thereâs Jae-in. Iâve been thinking about Jae-in for a while, probably because I know so many Jae-inâs. Theyâre talented and friendly with so many people, and that puts people at ease. But Iâm worried that Jae-in might have a hard time recognizing the value she has if she isnât in a relationship. She had a long list of talents to tell Young-jae about, but then she immediately focused the conversation on her desirability, and felt like she was seen as less than her upstanding sister. It feels like as much as she is a free spirit, she might need the attention from Young-jae too much. Weâll have to wait and see how far we take Jae-inâs story, but I think the happiest ending might be for Jae-in to find a fulfilling job and not be so concerned with the men in her life and their validation. The beginning of the episode starts with Ji-hoâs promise that he wonât let Jung-in see him watching her, and he ultimately holds that promise up. He stays strong against all of her efforts⌠right up until she turns her back on him to go inside her building. And then itâs here, where Ji-hoâs face softens as he watches her, letting out just a little bit of his emotions. He canât help indulge in them, but heâs determined not to interfere with Jung-inâs life. Thankfully, itâs officially too late for that. Jung-in has made her first bold move, and I can only assume that Ki-seokâs response will be to drive over to Jung-inâs apartment as quickly as he can so that they can talk in person. Jae-in and Young-jae will be totally oblivious and eagerly welcome Ki-seok in and then⌠I can only imagine. I really have no clue whether weâll introduce Ji-ho as a known rival so soon, or if weâll let it build slowly. But eventually weâre going to get a really intense game of basketball, right? I was a single dad before so I can relate to the main character in someways. I really felt touched in someways because I know the feeling of being a single dad being scared to commit to someone after having a previous bad relationship. I think what actually made me get emotional in a way was when the main character tell his story of his previous relationship to his new girlfriend and how the mother of his child ran away. I have felt this feeling as well before and it touched me because it's a feeling that will never go away. What's funny about this is that I met my wife in a library which is what made me happy about this because my wife worked part time at the university we went to as a cashier. I'm not really into love story shows but when I saw my wife watching it reminded me of us in a way. recaps discussion news cast 71 June 9, 2019June 9, 2019 One Spring Night Episodes 11-12 by TeriYaki Our pharmacist is suddenly of great interest to those closest to the conflicted librarian, which makes is more difficult for her to break free from her long-time boyfriend. Even when her boyfriend suspects that there could be someone else, the thought that Jung-in could open her heart to a single dad is unfathomable. Though denial may stall a break up, but it canât stop a growing bond between Jung-in and our pharmacist. EPISODE 11 RECAP Jung-in locks her gaze on Ji-hoâs face while she tells Ki-seok that she wants to break up. Ji-ho steps outside so Jung-in can have some privacy while she tries to convince Ki-seok that sheâs serious. Ki-seok asks for Jung-inâs reason but she tells him, ââŚletâs break up without any reason,â and with nothing more to say, she hangs up. Jung-in lets Ji-ho back into her apartment and when he offers to leave as soon as Young-jae returns, Jung-in assures him itâs not necessary because, âThis has nothing to do with you.â Ji-ho isnât sure how he feels now that the woman that heâs attracted to just broke up with her boyfriend. Jung-in tells Ji-ho that she isnât sure when her confusion began, only that she avoided dealing with it. The tension eases when Ji-ho jokes that he helped out by serving as Jung-inâs punching bag. Jae-in and Young-jae return and as they wait for the elevator, Young-jae worries that Jung-in might not want company. Jae-in reminds him that her sister is the straightforward type but Young-jae doesnât see her that way. Annoyed that Young-jae has paid that much attention to Jung-in, Jae-in threatens to go after Ji-ho until she remembers that he likes someone. Young-jae warns Jae-in not to mention it but once theyâre upstairs and Jae-in has had a few drinks, she confronts Ji-ho, âI heard youâre head over heels for someone.â Jae-in wants to know what Ji-ho finds attractive about his mystery woman and laughs when he answers, âSheâs such a fool.â When Ji-ho gets a call from Eun-woo, Jung-in directs him to her room and cringes when she sees the clothes that she tossed onto the floor. Jung-in shoves the clothes into her closet just as Eun-woo asks Ji-ho why he isnât talking. Ji-ho explains that heâs at a friendâs house and the boy pries, âAre you at the teacherâs place?â Even though Ji-ho denies it, Eun-woo asks to speak to the teacher, which Jung-in overhears. Jung-in takes the phone and smiles at Ji-ho while she talks with his son. When Jung-in sweetly ends the call, âIâll see you in your dream,â Ji-ho is overcome with emotion. Later, the impromptu party is interrupted by the doorbell. The sisters are surprised to see that Ki-seok is the visitor and Jung-in instructs Jae-in not to come out. When Jung-in walks out, Ki-seok can tell that sheâs been drinking. Inside, Jae-in tries to keep the party going but Ji-ho keeps glancing at the door. Ki-seok argues that Jung-in needs to observe good manners but she reasons, âWe have no respect for each other, so who cares how our relationship ends?â Angry, Ki-seok insists on working things out but Jung-in warns him to lower his voice. Ki-seok wants to go somewhere else to talk but Jung-in refuses and when she tries to go back inside, he grabs her. When everyone inside hears Jung-in protest, âDonât do that,â Jae-in gets up to investigate. Young-jae whispers that itâs time to go but Ji-ho points out that would only make things more awkward. One of Ji-hoâs shoes gets kicked outside when Jae-in opens the door and explains, âWe have guestsâŚâ When Jae-in invites Ki-seok to join them, Jung-in sends her sister back inside, alone. Ki-seok reminds Jung-in that he gave her time to think and asks for the same consideration. Once Jung-in returns, Ji-ho tells Young-jae, âLetâs go.â Jae-in is upset that Ki-seok ruined the fun but Young-jae insists, âWe were going to leave anyway.â On his way out, Ji-ho giveâs Jung-inâs shoulder a reassuring pat. As they wait for the kindergarten bus the next morning, Ji-hoâs mother asks Eun-woo about his phone call with his father. The boy explains that he talked with the teacher, âShe told me that I need to go to bed early to grow taller.â Mom crouches down to double check that Eun-woo is talking about a woman and the boy reminds her that all teachers are women. Cute. Once the bus leaves with Eun-woo, Mom sits in the dry cleanerâs shop to think. When Dad joins her, Mom shares her suspicion, âI think Ji-ho is seeing someone,â and sheâs already guessed that the woman works at the library that Ji-ho and Eun-woo visited. Chairman Kwon arrives at the school just as Jung-inâs after, Principal Lee, returns from a meeting. Principal Lee promises to write up a report for the chairmanâs benefit but Chairman Kwon suggests taking a walk together first. Chairman Kwon offers Principal Lee a position at his foundation after his retirement. Principal Lee thanks the chairman, who uses the opportunity to counsel, âAnd about our kidsâŚMarriage is a major life event, so we should really think it throughâŚLetâs not make a rash decision.â Ha-rin returns to her desk, puzzled about some new dinosaur childrenâs books that have gone missing. Ha-rin and Young-joo are surprised when Jung-in announces that she took them â for her nephew. Young-joo blinks and then points out that Jung-in has no nephews. Jung-in corrects herself, âItâs my cousinâs son,â and after she makes a hasty exit, her friends agree that Jung-in looked flustered. As the pharmacy team prepares to close, Ye-seul offers to set up Ji-ho on a blind date but Pharmacist Wang warns her not to bother. When Ji-ho and Pharmacist Wang go out for coffee, she confesses that she misses the old Ji-ho, âYou were fun, smart, and competitive.â Pharmacist Wang knows how much Eun-woo changed Ji-hoâs life, but sheâs noticed a change in Ji-ho recently. Ji-ho admits, âThereâs someone I like,â and adds that because of the womanâs situation and a series of obstacles, he isnât sure if he should pursue her. When asked if heâd regret letting her go, Ji-ho shakes his head, âI can endure it all, sheâll obviously have a hard time because of me.â Pharmacist Wang argues, âYouâve suffered enoughâŚCan I see that high-spirited version of you again?â Shi-hoon stands over a shaken Seo-in in their trashed apartment and rips up a document, âLet me say this one more time. You canât get out of this marriage.â On his way out, Shi-hoon mentions that he invited Jung-in and Ki-seok over and tells Seo-in to arrange the date. Later, when Seo-in is about to go on the air, Shi-hoon texts a reminder to schedule the get-together. Seo-inâs co-anchor mentions rumors of a scandal and Seo-in vows not to let him down. Seo-in submits her resignation and when her boss wonders what jerk is spreading rumors about her, she says nothing. He offers Seo-in the support of the company but she points out its inability to stop the rumors. Seo-inâs boss worries that she has plans to join another network but Seo-in claims that she wants to study. Her boss mentions the companyâs training program but Seo-in insists on keeping her plans private. Jung-inâs mother stops at the library to talk to Jung-in. When Mom informs Jung-in that Chairman Kwon offered her father a job at the foundation, Jung-in realizes that her parents expect the offer to influence her decision about Ki-seok. Jung-in reminds her mother that this is what happened with Seo-in, which is why Jung-in and her father canât get along. EPISODE 12 RECAP Ji-ho meets Hyun-soo outside of the bank and when they see Ki-seok, Hyun-soo invites him to join them for a drink. Ki-seok canât make it since heâs on his way to see his girlfriend but after seeing Ji-hoâs shoes, he changes his mind. Jae-in and Young-jae are out together again and Jae-in mentions that Ji-ho and Jung-in behaved suspiciously the night that they were all together. Young-jae comes to their defense â Ji-ho just went into Jung-inâs room to talk on the phone and Jung-in went in to tidy up. Jae-in persists, âThose two seem fishy, right,â and Young-jae blurts out, âYes. I mean, no. She has a boyfriend.â Young-joo catches up to Jung-in after work to ask if sheâs on her way to end things for good with Ki-seok. When Jung-in informs her that Ki-seok cancelled, Young-joo warns, âDonât think youâre out of the woods yet.â Over drinks, Hyun-soo asks Ki-seok why he cancelled his plans with his girlfriend. Ki-seok stares at Ji-ho before bringing up the other night. Ji-ho readily admits, âYes, I was at the apartment. I knew you came by, but I couldnât come outâŚâ Ki-seok sighs in relief when Ji-ho adds that he was there with Jae-in and Young-jae. Hyun-soo looks confused, so Ki-seok explains that his friends were invited to his girlfriendâs house by her sister. Hyun-soo comes to his friendsâ defense but Ki-seok now finds the entire situation funny. Ki-seok admits that when he saw the mensâ shoes, âI got pissed because it seemed like she had someone else.â Amused by his misunderstanding, Ki-seok tells Ji-ho, âIf I had known it was you, I wouldâve gone in and buried the hatchet with Jung-in.â Ki-seok looks puzzled when Ji-ho admits, âI shouldâve told you the truth.â Young-jae gets a call from Hyun-soo and has to explain, âWe didnât plan on going there and nothing happened.â Young-jae tells Jae-in that Ki-seok found out that he and Ji-ho were at the apartment and she mutters, âThat was fast.â Jung-in sees the pair on her way to her building and Jae-in informs her that Ki-seok and Ji-ho are together. When Jung-in enters her apartment, she pulls out her phone, unsure what to do. Jae-in walks in to confront her sister about Ji-ho, âYouâre the woman he likes, right?â Jung-inâs silence says everything and Jae-in has to ask, âDo you like him too?â When Jung-in confesses that she does, Jae-in summarizes, âSo the two men pining over you are currently together.â When Jung-in is about to call Ji-ho, Jae-in orders her to call Ki-seok instead to find out what he knows. Ki-seok lays it on a bit thick for the benefit of Ji-ho when Jung-in calls, âWhen have you ever asked me to rush over?â Ki-seok is convinced that Jung-in probably wants to make up so Hyun-soo urges him to hurry. Ji-ho protests, âCanât you stayâŚCanât your girlfriend come here instead?â Hyun-soo pronounces Ji-ho drunk and once Ki-seok is gone, he asks, âWhatâs going on,â but a miserable Ji-ho can only shake his head and whisper that itâs nothing. While Jung-in waits for Ki-seok to arrive, Ji-ho tries to cheer himself up with a call to Eun-woo. Over wine, Jae-in explains to Ki-seok, âIt was my doing, so no more misunderstandings.â Ki-seok assures Jae-in that he doubted Jung-in for no reason because Ji-ho poses no threat. Jae-in doesnât understand so Ki-seok explains that Ji-ho is a single father. Ki-seok laughs that Ji-ho tried to stop him from coming over. Jung-in decides that he must have been drunk and Ki-seok agrees, otherwise Ji-hoâs comment would be strange. Jae-in asks Ki-seok to forget about what happened but he reminds her that itâs Ji-ho theyâre talking about. Jae-in takes exception to Ki-seokâs attitude, âYou canât judge someone just because heâs a single father. Itâs out of line to say that heâs not even worth considering.â Ki-seok grumbles that he feels like the bad guy, which could have been avoided if Jung-in had reconciled with him sooner. Ki-seok grabs Jung-inâs hand to announce, âWeâre thinking about getting married. Can I count on your help?â Jae-in squelches her surprise with a smile and says nothing. Jung-in walks Ki-seok to the street and when he asks, âWhat will become of us,â she tells him, âItâs late.â Ki-seok wonders if sheâs talking about them and pulls Jung-in into a hug that she doesnât return. Ki-seok tries to convince Jung-in, âLetâs be more in love. Iâll do better.â Back in her apartment, Jung-in asks Jae-in if sheâs disappointed. Jae-in admits that sheâs disappointed with Ki-seok and feels badly about Ji-ho. Jae-in asks if Jung-in has made up her mind and when she shakes her head, Jae-in promises, âJust know that I have your back no matter what.â Jung-in tears up when Jae-in gives her a sisterly hug. In the morning, Ye-seul warns her boss not to go into the pharmacy because Ji-ho is in the middle of a serious phone call with a woman. In the back room, Ji-ho tells Jung-in that he knows that Jung-inâs actions were meant to protect him. When Jung-in apologizes, âIâm sorry for liking you,â Ji-ho exclaims, âWhat a pleasant morning.â When Chairman Kwon drops off an herbal tonic, Ki-seok invites his father for a cup of coffee. In Ki-seokâs office, Chairman Kwon warns his son to cut ties with people who cling to him because he works at a bank, âYou must be objectiveâŚBlindly believing in them will drive you off a cliff.â Chairman Kwon informs Ki-seok that when Principal Lee retires, heâll work for the foundation. Ki-seok is shocked when his father asks him to bring Jung-in home for a visit. Chairman Kwon laughs and asks if they broke up but Ki-seok answers that heâs marrying Jung-in. After another intense basketball game, Ji-ho announces that heâs headed home. Ki-seok urges him to join the team for dinner and thereâs an uncomfortable pause until Ji-ho agrees. Hyun-soo offers Ji-ho a ride but he decides to go with Ki-seok. During the drive, Ki-seok asks Ji-ho why the identity of the woman that heâs seeing is a secret from Hyun-soo. Ki-seok envies the excitement of a new relationship and Ji-ho asks, âNot for you anymore?â Ki-seok admits, âThe honeymoon phase is over in about a month anyway. Once that ends, you just keep dating each other unless something happens.â When Ki-seok confirms that heâs been with his girlfriend for a long time, Ji-ho points out, âBut then you could fall out of love.â Ki-seok thinks that Ji-ho is talking about cheating, something that he would never do, but he would break up with his girlfriend if she ever cheated. When Ji-ho asks if Ki-seok could let her go, Ki-seok confesses, âI wouldnât let go so easilyâŚâ Ji-ho ignores a phone call but Ki-seok suspects that itâs the mystery woman and urges him answer. Itâs Jung-in, whoâs checking to see if Ji-ho is at the pharmacy because she has something to say. Ji-ho tells her that he just finished his basketball game and Jung-in guesses that heâs with Ki-seok. When Jung-in offers to hang up, Ji-ho pleads, âDonât hang up.â COMMENTS Itâs impossible to ignore how differently Jung-in behaves whenever Ki-seok is around. Sheâs tense, unhappy and overall miserable with Ki-seok but he doesnât see it. Ki-seok seems to think that if he protests long enough, he can get Jung-in to agree to get married. What Ki-seok canât see is how Jung-in behaves when heâs not around, sheâs like a different person. Back in Episode 4, Jung-in and Ki-seok sat on her couch when she asked him for a break. They sat as far apart as possible and Jung-in was stiff and uncomfortable. In contrast, Jung-in sits on that same couch with Ji-ho while Jae-in and Young-jae are out to pick up drinks. Even though they are seated just as far apart as Jung-in and Ki-seok were, Jung-in prepared some tea and she is relaxed and willing to make eye contact with Ji-ho. Itâs Ji-ho who canât relax yet he still manages to joke with Jung-in and gets her to smile. Itâs the same thing with the hugs. Ki-seok pulls Jung-in into a tight hug after meeting with her and Jae-in, even though Jung-in does nothing to encourage him. Jung-in sighs and rolls her eyes as Ki-seok promises to do better and itâs painful to watch him cling to her. When Jung-in returns to her apartment, Jae-in comforts her with another hug and Jung-in hugs her sister back and smiles amid her tears. Itâs not that Jung-in is a cold woman, itâs that she no longer has romantic feelings for Ki-seok. Jung-in hasnât been willing to admit that to Ki-seok, instead determined to break up with him without citing a specific reason. Even though she now has feelings for Ji-ho, thatâs not the only reason that Jung-in wants to be free. Itâs worrisome to know Ki-seokâs perspective about relationships as explained to Ji-ho on that drive to the post-game dinner. Relationships get comfortable and continue if thereâs no good reason to end them. Thatâs an awfully low standard and explains why Jung-in is so underwhelmed by Ki-seokâs suggestion of marriage. It sounds as if Ki-seok has no idea how to love Jung-in properly, which is the reason that Jae-in never warmed up to Shi-hoon. Well, there are may reasons for that but no one knows them, yet. I get the feeling that Ki-seok never treasured Jung-in, he just continued to see her because there wasnât a good reason not to. Ji-ho is on a different plane. Ji-ho is willing to suffer an unwanted separation and battles his temptations for Jung-inâs sake. Ji-ho does treasure Jung-in and is willing to let her go unlike Ki-seok, who wonât even consider breaking up with Jung-in. Unfortunately, Jung-inâs parents think more like Ki-seok and now that Chairman Kwon has offered Principal Lee a post-retirement position, theyâre even more anxious to see their daughter married to his son. As gruff and unpleasant as Chairman Kwon can be, if you strip away how he speaks, what he has to say makes lots of sense. Chairman Kwon is actually quite wise and preaches caution, with good reason. Marriage is a big decision and a bad choice leads to a difficult life. Ki-seok should be cautious at work because personal feelings interfere with sound decisions. Iâm finding myself warming up to the man even though his delivery could use some work. One parallel that I find adorable is the father and son connection with Jung-in. These two fell for Jung-in at first sight and canât stop thinking about her. Eun-woo canât wait to see her again and when he heard that Ji-ho was at a friendâs house, he instinctively knew he was talking about Jung-in. That nighttime conversation between Eun-woo and Jung-in moved Ji-ho to tears because it must have been so rewarding to know that the two people in his heart have a bond of their own. Unfortunately, Ki-seok isnât about to step aside so that Jung-in can find happiness with someone else, especially not a man like Ji-ho, whoâs a single father. Ki-seokâs refusal to acknowledge that Ji-ho is a serious romantic rival shows just how clueless he truly is. recaps discussion news cast 106 July 14, 2019July 14, 2019 One Spring Night Episodes 31-32 Final by TeriYaki It turns out that nothing can shake the connection between our main couple, so now itâs time to accept whatâs meant to be. That doesnât mean that they have overcome every challenge, but theyâre more than ready to become a family of three. Our main couple recognizes their good fortune, having someone that they cherish by their side, and their devotion promises to overcome even the most difficult obstacles. EPISODE 31 Ji-ho sits in the closed pharmacy with Jung-in and explains that ever since Eun-woo was a baby, heâs had to bottle up his feelings to survive. Jung-in asks Ji-ho he ever thought of leaving Eun-woo and when he turns away, she breathes, âThatâs insane.â Ji-ho explains that on the day that he got drunk he wasnât able to successfully suppress his feelings. Jung-in gulps down her tea and tells Ji-ho, âA verbal apology is one thing, but that canât be all. Letâs go.â Ji-hi sits across from Jung-in in his kitchen and does his best to explain away his drunken episode, âIt was a mistake. Doesnât that just make me human?â When Jung-in threatens to sign him up for a sober clinic, Ji-ho puts his pen to paper. Under Jung-inâs watchful eye, Ji-ho reluctantly writes, âNo drinking allowed. Engagement with Jung-in to be broken off upon violation.â Jung-in smears lipstick on Ji-hoâs thumb so that he can affix his thumbprint and then posts the pledge on his refrigerator. During dinner, Chairman Kwon confronts Principal Lee, âSo is your daughter going to marry my son or what?â Principal Lee explains that parents must respect the decisions of adult children, âThatâs how Iâve treated my daughters all this time.â Ki-seok haltingly agrees with Principal Lee, âYouâre right. Marriage should be our decision.â When Ki-seok announces that he and Jung-in will marry by the yearâs end, Chairman Kwon and Principal Lee hide their surprise by emptying their cups. Over dinner at Ji-hoâs place, Jung-in admits that she always expected to get her motherâs support. Ji-ho appreciates how difficult it must have been for Jung-inâs mother to give him her approval, so he accepts that it will be harder for her father. Jung-in is touched when Ji-ho explains how he copes with her parents, âBecause of you. You approve of me.â Both dads are drunk by the time that dinner is over and Chairman Kwon again asks if their kids are ever getting married. Chairman Kwon admits that he doesnât trust his own son or Jung-in but heâs offended when Principal Lee confesses that he doesnât trust Ki-seok either. The men argue about the kids and the dads are about to trade blows until Ki-seok and Chairman Kwonâs driver intervene. Ki-seok takes Principal Lee home and helps to get him into bed. He sits down with Jung-inâs mother and explains why he had dinner with his father and Principal Lee, âItâs about time we talked in detail about our wedding.â Ki-seok tells Jung-inâs surprised mother that he has to marry Jung-in because Ji-ho isnât âdecentâ enough for her. Ki-seok shares that Ji-ho came to his workplace to threaten him with the photos and concludes that Ji-ho is after money. Mom scoffs in disbelief when Ki-seok promises to guide Jung-in back to her proper place. Ji-ho is at the pharmacy when Jung-in calls with the news that her mother asked for an official meeting. Ji-ho agrees but he asks if he can bring Eun-woo along as well. Jung-in canât believe that she didnât think of it herself and she readily agrees. When Jung-in tells her friends about the meeting, Ha-rin and Young-joo are impressed by Ji-hoâs bravery. Ha-rin teases that she should buy something at the pharmacy and Jung-in playfully quips, âDonât forget your wallet.â Ji-ho visits his parents to discuss his meeting with Jung-inâs mother. Theyâre worried that Eun-wooâs presence will make Jung-inâs mother uncomfortable but they relax once they learn that Jung-in wants Eun-woo there. When Ji-ho leaves, his father praises him for being a great father and tells Ji-ho that heâs proud of him. After leaving Principal Leeâs house, Ki-seok goes to see his father. Chairman Kwon canât understand how Ki-seok can marry a girl whoâs with another man and wonders, âCan you still love her for the rest of your life?â Ki-seok insists that staying married is all that matters. Ki-seok blames his father for his failed relationship with Jung-in â he never approved of her, he took those photos and picked a fight with Principal Lee. Ki-seok is convinced that he has to force Jung-in to marry him in order to protect his father from Ji-hoâs threat. Hyun-soo is on the phone with Young-jae while waiting for the elevator at the bank, unaware that Ki-seok is right behind him. When Hyun-soo learns about the meeting with Jung-inâs mother, he exclaims, âWeâll see who marries after Ji-ho.â Ki-seok asks about Ji-ho and Hyun-soo has to explain, âOh, itâs just I think heâs getting married soon.â Hyun-soo escapes into the elevator, leaving behind a stunned Ki-seok. Jae-in arrives at Seo-inâs place while Jung-in and Seo-in set aside baby gifts from Shi-hoon. Jae-in complains, âShowering you with baby gifts wonât change anything. How did he become a dentist with this level of stupidity?â When Jae-in blurts out, âYou shouldâve pressed charges that day,â Jung-in asks what sheâs talking about. Jung-in refuses to be left in the dark, forcing Jae-in to reveal, âShi-hoon assaulted Seo-in.â Shi-hoon sits in his office with Seo-inâs divorce petition in front of him. After a great deal of hesitation, Shi-hoon finally places his stamp on the form. Back at Seo-inâs place, a tearful Jung-in searches for Seo-in, whoâs taken refuge in her bedroom. Jung-in hugs her sister tightly and when Jae-in joins them, the sisters all sob together. On the day of the meeting, Ji-hoâs mother and father watch happily as Ji-ho drives away with Eun-woo. Ji-ho joins up with Jung-in in the parking lot of the restaurant where theyâre meeting and introduces himself to her mother. After greeting Eun-woo warmly, Jung-in introduces the little boy to her mother and sisters. During lunch, Jae-in confesses that she already knows Ji-ho quite well. Ji-ho asks her to be kind but Jae-in teases Jung-in, âHow much is it worth?â Jung-in forgets all about Eun-woo when she pulls back her fist and threatens, âDo you want a piece of me?â After everyone laughs at Jung-in, Jae-in invites Eun-woo to play outside. Seo-in tells Ji-ho that sheâll need pointers as a single parent and he agrees to share what heâs learned, even though his parents raised Eun-woo. Seo-in has one question for Ji-ho, âWhat went through your mind as you handled it all?â Ji-ho explains his responsibility towards Eun-woo, âHeâs living his life with only me to look up to, so I couldnât crumble. The same goes for Jung-in. Sheâs putting her entire faith in me, so Iâll protect her no matter what.â Suddenly Jung-in, her mother and Seo-in are all weeping, moved by Ji-hoâs words. In a modest restaurant, Shi-hoon eats lunch accompanied by a couple of bottles of soju. Ki-seok happens to walk in and at the sight of Shi-hoon, he asks why heâs drinking in the middle of the day. Shi-hoon confesses that heâs getting divorced and blames Ki-seok, who failed to approve his loan. Over dessert, Jung-inâs mother confesses that she was flustered when she heard that Eun-woo was coming along but as a parent, she was touched. Ji-ho thanks Jung-inâs mother for her kind acceptance of him and Eun-woo. Jung-inâs mother warns Ji-ho, ââŚyou have a long way to go to persuade Jung-inâs dad.â Ji-ho is prepared for that but heâs worried about Jung-in. Jung-in assures her mother and sisters, âWeâll get through it. Weâll wait for Dad to change his mind and accept Ji-ho.â Jung-in promises that sheâll be able to endure the challenging times, ââŚbecause Iâll have Ji-ho right by my side.â Ji-ho reaches over for Jung-inâs hand and when they smile at each other, Jung-inâs mother sheds more tears. EPISODE 32 Ki-seok has joined Shi-hoon for lunch and drunkenly complains, âSeriously, I never thought a loser like Yoo Ji-ho wouldâŚHow dare she even compare me to Ji-ho?â Shocked that to hear that Ki-seok had a competitor, Shi-hoon regrets that heâs only hearing about it now, âYou shouldâve told me soonerâŚI wouldâve told the entire family.â Shi-hoon comes up with a plan that he insists is a win-win for him and Ki-seok. Shi-hoon wants to inform Seo-inâs parents about the divorce, convinced that theyâll step in to delay it until after Jung-in and Ki-seok are married. That gives Shi-hoon time to fix his marriage. Even though heâs drunk, Ki-seok finally sees Shi-hoon clearly. Ki-seok stands up and after he slips on his shoes, he tells Shi-hoon, âLetâs just figure things out separately.â Ki-seok walks away and leaves Shi-hoon behind. Jung-inâs mother and sisters seem at peace after meeting Ji-ho. Seo-in added a photo of her and Eun-woo to the journal that she started for her baby. Written under the sonogram photo is Seo-inâs wish, âI hope you only see, listen, say and dream beautiful things.â Seo-in sits at her desk to add her version of Ji-hoâs words, âI promise you that Iâll protect you forever.â Jung-inâs mother smiles as she strolls down a street lined with shops while Jae-in drinks beer with Young-jae by the river. He asks what sheâs thinking about and Jae-in confesses, âThe reason I came back to Korea,â which she just realized had nothing to do with her studies. Stopped at a light on the drive home, Ji-ho confesses that he canât believe that this day actually came. Eun-woo asks, âAre you and Ms. Lee getting married?â When Ji-ho answers, âYes,â Eun-woo wants to know, âThen, is she going to be my mom?â Ji-ho and Eun-woo smile when Jung-in answers the young boy, âYes, Iâll be your mom.â Surprisingly, Pharmacist Wang isnât thrilled with Ji-hoâs good news, âYouâd better not get married. I wonât go to your wedding or give you a money gift.â Ye-seul guesses that Pharmacist Wang is worried that Ji-ho will quit so he promises that heâll remain at the pharmacy, no matter where he lives. When Pharmacist Wang asks Ji-ho to sign a pledge, he escapes to the back room. Ye-seul is amused that Ji-ho is taking his pledge so seriously but Pharmacist Wang reminds her, âHeâll be such a sucker for his wife.â Principal Lee visits Chairman Kwonâs office and both men apologize for their drunken behavior. Chairman Kwon takes the opportunity to offer Principal Lee a director position once he retires but Principal Lee asks for some time to think about it. At the library, Jung-in ducks into the break room to answer a call from her father, who asks, âIs there no chance for you and Ki-seok anymore?â Jung-in knows that her fatherâs heart aches whenever he sees Seo-in and promises that if heâs patient, heâll soon see her living happily. When Principal Lee leaves the school for the day, he walks away with heavy footsteps. Chairman Kwon is at home when Principal Lee calls but he doesnât answer his phone. Instead, Chairman Kwon calls Ki-seok and tells his son, âYouâve done more than enough.â Jung-in is alone at home when Ki-seok texts her, âIâm sorry about everything.â Ji-ho arrives at his place with Hyun-soo and Young-jae, who are laden with drinks and snacks. Ji-ho makes it clear to his friends that they must leave after watching the soccer game. Young-jae explains that Jung-in wonât let Ji-ho drink and Hyun-soo complains, âShe has him wrapped around her finger.â Ji-ho does try not to drink that night but he canât resist. He calls Jung-in as sheâs going to bed, claiming that his friends left after the game. Jung-in thinks that Ji-ho sounds down because he couldnât drink but he explains that itâs because heâs already in bed. Ji-ho tells Jung-in, âI love you,â before hanging up. When Ji-ho walks out of his bedroom, Hyun-soo and Young-jae praise him for successfully fooling Jung-in. Ji-ho feels guilty and is about to call Jung-in to confess that theyâve been drinking but Young-jae takes his phone and pushes Ji-ho back into his bedroom. Hyun-soo uses Ji-hoâs phone to order delivery while Ji-ho is trapped. Young-joo pokes her head out of her window when she hears deliverymen running up and down the stairs. Jung-in wakes up when she gets a text from Young-joo, âIs Ji-ho having a housewarming party today?â In the morning, a taxi drops Jung-in off at Ji-hoâs place. She finds Ji-ho, Hyun-soo and Young-jae sprawled out in the living room littered with empty beer cans and soju bottles. She opens the door and slams it, waking up Young-jae who then wakes up Ji-ho. Ji-ho mumbles that they didnât drink..that much. Jung-in pulls Ji-hoâs pledge from the refrigerator but Ji-ho stops her before she can leave. Ji-ho isnât the only one in trouble. Jae-in is at Seo-inâs place but that doesnât stop her from shouting into her phone, âYoung-jae, are you not going to study? Iâm really going to break up with you if you donât pass the exam again.â Back at his place, Ji-ho kneels in front of an angry Jung-in. Ji-ho argues that Jung-in is being too harsh and when she doesnât relent, he claims, âMy stomach is upset.â Jung-in has to stifle a smile before asking Ji-ho if he got that move from Eun-woo. Ji-ho promises that heâll never drink again but thatâs not why Jung-in is angry. Jung-in wants an explanation for all of the lies he told her when he called and Ji-ho admits, âI didnât want to be scolded.â When Jung-in asks, âDid you really think you could fool me,â Ji-ho smiles and admits, âYes.â Once Jung-in laughs, Ji-ho turns on the charm, âForgive me just this one time.â Jung-in agrees but she grabs the pledge and informs Ji-ho, âI wonât marry you though.â Jung-in tries to escape to Ji-hoâs bedroom but Ji-ho is right behind her. Jung-in jumps onto the bed to keep the pledge away from Ji-ho but soon they collapse onto the bed where they laugh and kiss. Jung-in exits the flower shop next-door to Ji-hoâs parentsâ house and asks Ji-ho if she looks all right. Ji-ho has never seen Jung-in so nervous but sheâs worried, âWhat if they wonât let me marry you?â When Ji-hoâs parents greet them, Jung-in hands his mother a bouquet and an excited Eun-woo jumps into her arms. Jung-inâs mother is on the phone with Seo-in, discussing Jung-inâs meeting with Ji-hoâs parents, but she hangs up when her husband walks in. Jung-inâs mom sees how low her husband is feeling and suggests how they should deal with their daughters from now on, âLetâs neither expect too much from them nor pressure them in any way. Letâs be that kind of parents.â When Jung-inâs father sighs heavily, Jung-inâs mother invites him out for a nice dinner. Ji-hoâs father canât take his eyes off of Jung-in as she looks up dinosaurs with Eun-woo. Jung-in perks up when Ji-hoâs father asks if she drinks but when he offers something to Ji-ho, she announces that he quit drinking. Ki-seok across from the assemblymanâs daughter in a restaurant. She asks Ki-seok when he had his last relationship but he answers that he doesnât remember. When asked if heâs interested in marriage, Ki-seok answers, âObviously, thatâs why Iâm here.â Ki-seok adds, âI was just thinking that Iâm glad I decided to come here today,â but when the assemblymanâs daughter isnât looking, his smile fades. After putting Eun-woo to bed, Ji-ho rejoins the party and recognizes that Jung-in has had a lot to drink. Eager to put Ji-hoâs parents at ease, Jung-in promises, âWeâll be considerate of each other and be happy together. And Iâll do my best to be a good mom to Eun-woo.â When his mother starts to cry and his father has to look away, Ji-ho takes Jung-inâs hand and nods approvingly. In the morning, Jung-in wakes up in Eun-wooâs bed and moans, âOh, no.â She grabs her phone to call Ji-ho, whoâs been watching her through the door. When Ji-ho walks in, he has to explain that he couldnât take Jung-in home because she insisted on staying there for the night. Ji-ho teases a worried Jung-in that his mother is angry, âShe said she canât let you marry me.â Ji-ho adds that on the other hand, his father is thrilled that he has a new drinking buddy. When Jung-in asks how to sneak out, Ji-ho hands her some paper and Jung-in suddenly complains that her stomach hurts. Jung-in canât keep from laughing when Ji-ho insists that she has to write down her pledge. At her place, Jung-in grabs a water bottle from her refrigerator where Ji-hoâs amended pledge is posted, âI will never lie. Engagement with Jung-in to be broken off upon violation.â Jung-inâs pledge is posted on Ji-hoâs refrigerator, âI, Lee Jung-in will marry Yoo Ji-ho no matter what. If not, Iâll stay single forever.â Jung-in smiles when Ji-ho texts her at work, âThank you for coming to me.â Ji-ho is just as happy when Jung-in texts back, âSpring brought you to me.â Itâs dark when Jung-in passes by the street crew working outside the pharmacy. Jung-in recreates their first meeting when she asks Ji-ho if he has medicine for hangovers. Ji-ho offers to open the medicine for her, but warns, âI donât do it for women who brought their wallets.â They both laugh when the jackhammer starts up. Ji-ho needs to finish before he can leave and while Jung-in waits, she gets a text. When she looks for Ji-ho, he pulls her into the back room and they pass by the doorway many times, hugging, laughing and kissing. COMMENTS Iâm so grateful that One Spring Night didnât let its viewers down, concluding with a very sweet and satisfying ending. The finale mirrored the relationship between Jung-in and Ji-ho, it was committed to the pair at the heart of this drama to the end. Honestly, I want to go back and watch it all over again. One Spring Night tackled so many difficult subjects but it never felt too heavy. Thatâs in large part due to the well defined characters who were at the center of the controversies, especially the Lee sisters. They are three loving sisters who inspire and uplift one another through the tough times and together, they look forward to a more promising future with a new generation. Even though she didnât explain it, Iâm positive that Jae-in returned to Korea because she missed her sisters. While Jung-inâs and Ji-hoâs commitment to each other and to Eun-woo is undeniably solid, there are lots of adjustments to be made as they face marriage and become a family of their own. Like many bachelors, Ji-ho has to learn how to behave with his friends so as not to cause problems on the home front. Since Ji-ho is the first one in his circle to settle down, neither he nor his friends have any experience with that so it was only a matter of time before they would clash with Jung-in. Whatâs funny is that Jung-in has similar struggles and Ji-ho is more than happy to point that out, as evidenced by the two pledges. Thereâs no doubt that Jung-in will be a demanding wife, sheâs admitted as much, but only someone with such a strong personality would be able to defy established norms and date a single father. Ji-hoâs calmness helps to temper Jung-inâs feistiness and they continue to prove what a good match they are. Jung-inâs mother and sisters got to see this firsthand when they met formally which is why there were so many tears and a sense of peace in the aftermath. Jung-in may not have made as strong of a positive impression on Ji-hoâs parents thanks to her overindulgence, but her love for Eun-woo buys a great deal of goodwill. So now, we launch these characters into the future. Itâs a given that Ji-ho and Jung-in will get married and that Eun-woo will now have a mother of his own plus a loving maternal grandmother and some pretty awesome aunts. Young-jae had better pass his civil exam if he wants to continue his relationship with Jae-in, whoâs easy, breezy attitude has morphed into Jung-inâs toughness. Seo-in finally got her divorce and now everyone in her family knows what a brute Shi-hoon really is. Sadly, Shi-hoon hasnât changed a bit, but surprisingly, Ki-seok has. Thanks to Shi-hoon, Ki-seok finally saw how pitiful it was to cling to someone who has moved on and he accepted that his future doesnât include Jung-in. I found it really hard to watch the breakup of Jung-inâs father, Principal Lee, and Chairman Kwon. It honestly broke my heart. These two men, who had gotten used to each other over the years, realized how much they meant to each other as their childrenâs relationship fell apart. Principal Lee really wanted to work with Chairman Kwon after he retires and I believe that was in part because theyâre so used to each other. And Chairman Kwon, as much as he may have disapproved of Jung-in in the beginning, he sincerely appreciated her qualities and envisioned a future with her and a continued future with her father. When Principal Lee walked away from the school after his conversation with Jung-in, it was clear that he had accepted that his relationship with Chairman Kwon would be a casualty of Ki-seokâs and Jung-inâs breakup. What I appreciated the most about Jung-in and Ji-hoâs relationship was its focus on simple, stolen moments of happiness with the right person by your side. Thatâs the goal, to go through the ups and downs of life with your best friend while being good to each other. I can imagine Jung-in and Ji-ho growing old together, surrounded by loving family and friends. I canât ask for anything more.
